Region around village is inhabited in ancient times. It was intense mining in that region, especially copper. Also there are number of quarries of grey soli, Umber and tera alba. It was estate of despots, probably destroyed by Saracens. Leontios Machairas in his Chronicle mentioned in that region raids by the Saracens during the reign of Janus of Cyprus (1398-1432).
